Also present:  Brian Bollig and Brian Beckdorf

A motion was made by Sharon Lothert to approve the agenda with the following additions:  Under old business: “Tile Line” and under new business: “Community Center custodian resignation” and “MinnWest Bank request.”  Ryan Bentley seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

A motion was made by Les Schneider, Sr. to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of March 11, 2009.  Sharon Lothert seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Brian Beckendorf was present to talk about the possibility of putting a carwash in the old school bus garage that he purchased.  He asked questions regarding the size of the water main, the drain, and the sewer.  Les Schneider, Sr. will call the League of MN Cities to ask what kinds of things the City should be concerned about.

Brian from Bollig, Inc. was present to introduce himself to the council.  He has an engineering and environmental firm in Willmar.  The City of Danube has an engineer it presently uses and there are no projects going on at this time.

Tri-Valley Opportunity Council has been in touch with Les Schneider, Sr. regarding improvements they are making in the school building.  Dan Kaufenberg, public works director, will be removing the pea rock and railroad tiles on the playground.  Les will check into what type of paint is okay to use over the top of the paint that is chipping on a bathroom sink.

The council reviewed the upcoming rental schedule for the Community Center and School Building.  Flora Mutual will be in the Community Center on April 6.  The school continues to be used for youth groups, walkers and basketball

A motion as made by Sharon Lothert to approve the bills as submitted in the amount of $16,830.89.  Ryan Bentley seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Gene Allex talked about the tile line in Danube and his concern about slow drainage.

Sharon Lothert has received complaints about the Danube squad car being used to take a Danube resident to the grocery store in Olivia.  Gene Allex will speak to Les Schneider, Jr. about this.

The City has a CD in the amount of $125,000 maturing on April second.  A motion was made by Sharon Lothert to purchase a new CD at MinnWest Bank with the entire amount plus interest earned.  Ryan Bentley seconded and the motion carried unanimously.  MinnWest Bank had the best interest rate when the clerk checked all area banks on March 25.

The council was notified that Jammie Schneider put in her resignation as Community Center custodian.  Her last day will be April 8, 2009.  The clerk was asked to put an ad in the paper for her replacement and also for part-time maintenance help.  The clerk will also call Danube residents that were interested in the custodian position previous to Jammie’s hire.

A MinnWest Bank employee asked the clerk if it was possible for her to give notice to the bank when someone new moves into Danube.  The council decided they cannot favor one business over another, so they will not give out that information.

There being no further business, at 8:15 p.m. Les Schneider, Sr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Sharon Lothert seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Respectfully submitted:  Sara Wilson, City Clerk
